M-95 traffic slowed due to log accident

WITCH LAKE, MI--   A Kingsford man was ticketed Tuesday for spilling logs on M-95 in Marquette

County.

Sheriff’s deputies say the accident happened around noon near Witch Lake.  The 28-year-old truck driver was southbound when the pup trailer started swaying back and forth and lost its load.  No one was injured, but a Wisconsin woman trying to avoid the spill lost control of her vehicle and hit a first responder vehicle on the side of the road.  She was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions.

The truck driver was cited for spilling logs on the highway, having defective equipment, and having an improper plate.

M-95 was narrowed to one lane for two-and-a-half hours.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
