Lyn Durant to be new Marquette Township Supervisor

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Marquette Township will have a new supervisor come October 1.

Board trustee Lyn Durant is taking the spot being vacated by Dennis Liimatta, who resigned Tuesday night.  He’s moving downstate to be closer to family.

Durant has served on the board for seven years.  Officials say they wanted someone who was familiar with the township and its operations to become the new supervisor, instead of training in someone new.

Durant is co-owner of the Cedar Motor Inn.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
