Local veteran donates Vietnam Wall to Iron Mountain museum

Daily News

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI (AP)--   A local Vietnam veteran has donated a wall honoring fallen servicemen from six surrounding counties for permanent display in the World War II Glider & Military Museum in Iron Mountain.

Gary Sparpana of Kingsford built the wall as a tribute to veterans from Dickinson, Delta, Iron, Menominee, Marinette and Florence counties who died in the Vietnam War. He offered to donate the wall to the Menominee Range Historical Foundation after it was used to promote the American Veterans Traveling Tribute's Traveling Vietnam Wall when it was displayed at the Quinnesec Cemetery in July.

The Daily News reports that the foundation's board accepted the donation and Sparpana recently helped install his Vietnam Wall at the museum.
