Late spring means U.P. roadside parks to remain shuttered

MARQUETTE, MI--   Roadside parks in the Upper Peninsula will open late this year.

The Michigan Department of Transportation says all 32 parks will remain closed until remaining snow melts, facilities thaw, and water recedes.

The parks had been scheduled to open on April 28, but M-DOT has pushed that date to May 12.

For a list of roadside parks in the state go to michigan.gov/mdot.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
