Laplander located, taken to Houghton jail

HOUGHTON, MI--   A Calumet man wanted for stealing a car and other crimes has been found and arrested.

Isaac Laplander 36, is charged with breaking into Harter’s Auto Supply and stealing items April 23, and is also accused of stealing a car from Kissel Chevrolet in Calumet April 30, driving it to Wisconsin, and trying to commit robbery in Hurley.

A probable cause hearing was set for May 4 in Houghton, but Laplander was out on bond and failed to show.

Laplander was discovered and arrested Saturday at U.P. Health System Marquette, where he’s allegedly been since May 11.  The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department transported him to the Houghton County Jail Sunday.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
