ST. JOSEPH, MI-- State Representative John Kivela has been sentenced on a drunk driving charge.
The Marquette Democrat was stopped by police near Lansing November 9. Clinton County officials say his blood-alcohol level was about three times the legal limit.
Kivela pleaded guilty last month to operating while intoxicated. WLUC-TV reports he was given 12 months of probation and fined around $1,500.
Kivela has admitted he struggles with alcoholism and is seeking treatment.
