MARQUETTE, MI– Northern Michigan University has named a new athletic director.
Forrest Karr is the current AD at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He was one of three people considered for the post out of more than 100 candidates. Karr officially begins his new job on Monday, June 11.
While in Fairbanks Karr helped the university add a women’s swimming program, establish a hall of fame, and develop an academic minor in sports management. He also chaired the state Board of Directors for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Alaska in 2009.
