Jeff Haas gets his famous father's piano

TRAVERSE CITY, MI (AP)--   A Baldwin Artist Grand piano used by the late classical pianist Karl Haas on his WJR radio show, "Adventures in Good Music," from 1959 to 1974 is now in the hands of his son in Traverse

City.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that jazz pianist Jeff Haas received it this week. He recalls visiting the WJR studios in Detroit's Fisher Building as a child to see his father perform. His father started and ended the show by playing his theme song on the piano.

It was given to Haas at his Building Bridges with Music offices by Jim Evola of Evola Music stores in Detroit and Traverse City. Evola came across the beat-up piano at WJR while touring the studios three years ago and restored it.
