Ishpeming superintendent hired

ISHPEMING, MI--   A new superintendent for Ishpeming Public Schools has been selected.

Following several days of interviews with various candidates, L’Anse Schools chief Carrie Meyer was offered the job.  Officials say they’ll work out a contract with Meyer next week.

John Summerhill was the district’s last superintendent.  He earned $105,000 annually.

Summerhill informed the school board in July he was looking elsewhere for employment.  Tony Bertucci stepped in as interim superintendent.

If contract details are sufficiently ironed out, Meyer could start in November.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
