Ishpeming Police looking for man in assault case

Ishpeming, MI - The Ishpeming City Police Department is looking for a man accused of assault in a July incident in the city.

Officials say the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office has issued a warrant for 39-year old David James Bellmer on a charge of ‘assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.’ The charge stems from an incident July 30th and 31st.

The 43-year old victim says she escaped the residence and used a neighbor’s phone to call 9-1-1. Officers arrived on the scene to find Bellmer had already fled. The victim was taken to the hospital, treated and released. No other information is being released at this time.

Ishpeming City Police are asking anyone who may have information on Bellmer’s whereabouts to call the police department at 486-4416.
