Ishpeming meth suspects missing

ISHPEMING, MI--   A police officer and two suspects were hospitalized following a meth bust in Ishpeming early Sunday morning, but now the suspects are missing.

Residents called City Police to 655 Maurice Street on a report there was a possible lab in the apartment building.  When officers entered a common area they found meth-making components, and when they looked through a window into one of the apartments saw a woman lying on the floor.  One officer entered the apartment to check on her well-being and immediately became nauseated and disoriented, his eyes and nose irritated.  Police removed the woman and a man from another room in the apartment.

All three were taken to U.P. Health System Bell for treatment, but the male and female suspects left before they were released.  They remain at large.

Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team detectives removed the meth chemicals and other toxic waste from the building.

The case remains under investigation.
