Ishpeming fugitive found and arrested

ISHPEMING, MI--   Ishpeming Police have arrested a man wanted in an assault incident that happened on July 31. 

Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. David Bellmer, 39, was taken into custody at 502 East North Street in Ishpeming. The Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office had issued a warrant against Bellmer for two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder by strangulation.

the 43-year-old victim in the case says she escaped the North Street residence following the alleged assaults on July 30 and 31 and called 911.

Bellmer was arrested without incident by the Michigan State Police Fugitive Team with assistance from Negaunee Police. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
