Iron River massage therapist facing charges

IRON RIVER, MI--   An Iron County massage therapist has been charged with criminal sexual conduct and practicing illegally. 

WLUC-TV reports Joseph Rankin, 25, of Iron River is charged with unauthorized practice in a health profession and fourth-degree CSC.  He faces up to six years in prison and a $5,500 fine.

Rankin must also undergo testing for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases. 

A preliminary exam is set for September 12. 

The investigation is ongoing.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
