Iron Mountain rally calls attention to VA vacancies

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   Employees at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain are holding a rally Tuesday.

Members of American Federation of Public Employees Local 2280 are asking the Veterans Administration to fill more than 49,000 vacancies at the VA nationwide. They say veterans are being deprived of the health care they’ve earned, and current staffing levels are creating risks to patient safety and a hazardous work environment for employees.

The rally, which is expected to include veterans and concerned citizens, is set to start at noon Central Time at the Iron Mountain Medical Center.
