Investigation continues into Whitefish Township death

WHITEFISH TOWNSHIP, MI--   Police have launched an investigation into the death of a downstate woman whose body was found on a Chippewa County beach over the weekend. 

Michigan State Police at the Sault Ste. Marie Post say Allyson Motylinski-Jenkins, 42, of Maybee, Michigan was found Saturday around 11:15 a.m. near the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum in Whitefish Township.

Troopers say the Chippewa County Medical Examiner is assisting in a full and complete investigation into the cause of death. 

Assisting at the scene were Michigan State Police from the Eighth District headquarters in Marquette and the Negaunee Post, the MSP Crime Lab from Grayling, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and Whitefish Township EMS.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
