Investigation continues into NMU student death

MARQUETTE, MI--   An autopsy is scheduled Monday to determine the cause of death of a Northern Michigan University student found deceased last week.

Monica Matus, 22, of Chicago was found Friday afternoon in her Woodland Park apartment.  Matus was an art and design/secondary education major and film studies minor.

NMU Public Safety officials say no foul play is suspected.

A memorial service is being planned.  Details will be released as they become available.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
