Identities in Skandia crash released

SKANDIA, MI--   The names of those involved in a fatal traffic accident in Skandia have been released.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office says the accident occurred Wednesday morning on US-41 near Kreiger Drive. A semi-truck driven by Charles R. Allen, 58, of Deer Park, Wisconsin was southbound when a northbound SUV driven by Brandon Doneau, 24, of Gwinn, crossed the center line and struck the semi head-on.

Doneau was transported to U.P. Health System Marquette where he was later pronounced dead. Allen was treated at the scene and released.

The crash, which remains under investigation, closed US-41 for approximately four hours.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Marquette County Rescue 131, Michigan State Police, Chocolay Township and Forsyth Township Police, Skandia/West Branch Fire and First Responders, U.P. Health System Marquette EMS, and the Marquette County Road Commission.
