Houghton Jail walkaway charged

HOUGHTON, MI--   A Houghton County Jail inmate who walked away from a work detail has been charged in the incident.

Mark Revoir, 35, was cleaning up the Houghton RV park last week when he took off.  He was eventually arrested in the Painesdale area later in the day.

Revoir was originally serving time for retail fraud.  He’s now charged with escape from a felony jail sentence, punishable by up to four years in jail and a $5,000 fine.  Revoir would serve the time after his current sentence if he’s found guilty.

A probable cause hearing is set for October 21.  A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 2.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
