Houghton County man injured in rollover accident

HANCOCK TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Hancock Township man has been injured in a single-vehicle accident in 

Houghton County.

Sheriff’s officials say the crash happened around 4:35 Thursday morning on M-203 about 500 yards north of Highpoint Road. 

Michael Hocking, 51, was northbound on 203 when the vehicle crossed the southbound lane, went down an embankment and struck a tree.  Hocking was ejected from the vehicle.  His condition is unknown at this time.

Deputies say alcohol was a factor in the accident.  Hocking wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
