Hiker lost in Marquette Township found

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office rescued a hiker lost in Marquette Township Friday afternoon. 

Around 3:30 p.m. deputies and Search and Rescue personnel were dispatched to the Wetmore Pond area. Kaylee Moreno, 25, of Grand Rapids went for a hike in the area at approximately 2 p.m., lost sight of the trail and became disoriented.

Moreno called 911 and Central Dispatch was able to get her GPS location from her phone. The information was relayed to responding personnel, who found Moreno about a half-mile north of Compeau Creek Road.

Moreno was taken back to her vehicle and departed without incident. She did not require any medical attention. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
