High-speed chase in WI leads to suicide

MARINETTE COUNTY, WI--   A man who led Wisconsin police on a high-speed chase in Marinette County and shot at vehicles is dead.

Sheriff’s deputies say the suspect—believed to be a 35-year-old Green Bay man—reportedly shot at and hit a vehicle on US-141 just south of Wausaukee Thursday around 3 p.m.  Deputies spotted the suspect and pursued the black Chevy Tahoe, which fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

The suspect turned onto US-8, then fired a handgun out the window at deputies.  His vehicle disappeared on a two-rut road near the town of Goodman.

Police called in an armored vehicle and bearcat units.  When officers took the armored vehicle down the two-rut road they found the suspect lying outside his vehicle, dead of an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

No other people were wounded in the incident.  The case remains under investigation.
