ISHPEMING, MI--   The Ishpeming Hematites have won another Division 7 State Football Championship.

On Saturday the Hematites secured a 22-16 victory over the Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates at Ford Field in Detroit.  It’s the third time in the past four years Ishpeming came out on top.

The team bus was escorted by police and fire trucks from various towns as it made its way from the Mackinac Bridge to Ishpeming Saturday night.  The players then attended a victory celebration at the high school Sunday night.  Hundreds of people applauded the players and head coach Jeff Olson as they brought another trophy home.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
