Gwinn suspect crashes car into bar

GWINN, MI--   A Gwinn man is in custody, after witnesses saw him drive a car into the Happy Hour Bar.

Forsyth Township Police say on October 13 a green Toyota was eastbound on M-35 when it left the road, drove across the front lawn of the FirstMerit bank, across Pearce Street, and into the side of the bar.  The vehicle left before officers arrived.

After a search police found the vehicle and a suspect, identified as Kirk Bragenzer, 25, who struggled with officers when he was arrested.

Further investigation revealed Bragenzer had taken an acquaintance’s vehicle without the owner’s permission.  The car was badly damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

On Monday Bragenzer was charged with resisting and obstructing a police officer, operating while intoxicated, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.  He remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
