Gwinn man charged with operating a meth lab

GWINN, MI--    Officers discovered a meth lab following a house fire in Gwinn Wednesday.

Forsyth Township Police were called Wednesday evening to 55 East Riling, lot 27 on a report of a structure fire with one person inside. Upon arrival, officers found a man trying to drive away from the residence. There was no one inside the house.

investigation revealed the production of meth was the likely cause of the fire. Officers also uncovered evidence of past meth production.

The man trying to leave the scene is identified as Brad Overly, 31, of Gwinn. He’s charged with operating/maintaining a meth lab.

Overly remains lodged at the Marquette County Jail.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
