Grants to be dispersed to Marquette County non-profit projects

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Community Foundation of Marquette County has released a list of this year’s grant recipients.

Officials say 115 applications produced 79 grants for non-profit projects within Marquette County. They include the Liberty Children’s Art Project, the Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council, and Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan.

Funding was secured through investments from donor gifts over the past 30 years.

The Foundation will award checks to recipients at a picnic Tuesday. It takes place at 5:30 p.m. at the Presque Isle Park Pavilion.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
