Northern Michigan University has announced the hiring of a new men’s hockey coach. University of Minnesota Golden Gophers assistant coach Grant Potulny Tuesday morning was named the third head coach of the Wildcats in NMU history. During his eight seasons as assistant coach at the University of Minnesota, the Gophers won six regular-season conference titles and qualified for five NCAA tournaments. As a player, Potulny is a two-time NC-double-A and WCHA tournament champion at Minnesota. He also served as assistant coach for the 2013 and 2017 United States teams at the IIHF World Championships.
