DEARBORN, MI (AP)-- AAA Michigan reports statewide gas prices have increased by about 13 cents a gallon within the past week.
The auto club says the average price per gallon of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.24 on Sunday. That's about $1.03 less than it was a year ago.
It marks the second consecutive week the statewide average has risen above $2 a gallon.
Dearborn-based AAA Michigan surveys daily fuel costs at 2,800 Michigan gas stations. It says the cheapest price was about $2.15 a gallon in the Saginaw area, while the highest price was about $2.29 a gallon in the Traverse City area.
According to AAA, gas prices are beginning to increase partly due to refinery issues in the Midwest.
