Gas prices leap

DEARBORN, MI (AP)--   AAA Michigan says gasoline prices have jumped about 12 cents during the past week to a statewide average of about $4.22 per gallon.

The auto club says Monday the average is about 49 cents per gallon more than this time last year.

AAA Michigan says prices increased for another week following lingering issues at several Midwest refineries. The auto club says the average price is about 4 cents less than Michigan's all-time high gas price average of about $4.26, set on May 4, 2011.

Of the cities it surveys, Dearborn-based AAA Michigan says the cheapest average price for self-serve unleaded fuel is in the Traverse City area, where it's about $4.13 a gallon. The highest average is in the Grand Rapids area at about $4.25.
