DEARBORN, MI (AP)-- Triple A Michigan says gas prices statewide have dropped by about 16 cents in the past week.
The decline in gas prices follows an increase of about 50 cents reported a week earlier by AAA Michigan amid a partial shutdown of an Indiana oil refinery.
The Dearborn-based auto club says the average price of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.84 per gallon on Sunday. That's about 66 cents less than at the same point a year earlier.
AAA Michigan surveys daily fuel prices at 2,800 gas stations across the state. The lowest average price was about $2.76 per gallon in the Saginaw/Bay City/Midland area, while the highest average was about $2.91 in the Marquette area.
