Funnel cloud forms during U.P. thunderstorms

DELTA COUNTY, MI--   A line of severe thunderstorms spawned a funnel cloud in Delta County Thursday night.

A storm spotter in Bark River reported the cloud that can form tornadoes around 7 p.m., prompting the National Weather Service to issue a tornado warning.

Storms also produced torrential rains, which caused flash flooding in Dickinson County.  WLUC-TV reports Ironwood received a half-inch of rain in just 15 minutes.

Storm watches and warnings remained in effect until 2 a.m. Eastern Time.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
