Friday is the deadline to apply for turkey hunting permit

LANSING, MI (AP)--   The deadline is approaching for fall turkey hunting applications in Michigan.

The state Department of Natural Resources says applications are on sale until Friday for the fall season which runs Sept. 15 to Nov. 14.

Officials say 5,150 general licenses and 46,700 private land licenses are available. The application fee is $5.

Beginning Aug. 12, applicants can check on whether they were drawn for a license at www.michigan.gov/huntdrawings. Leftover licenses will be sold until the quota is met in each hunt unit and hunt period.

Applications and licenses may be purchased at any authorized license agent or online at www.mdnr-elicense.com.
