MARQUETTE, MI--    The Forsyth Township Police Department has arrested a Newberry man for several felonies involving children.

James Waller, 31, was taken into custody Thursday on a six-count warrant for crimes he allegedly committed when he lived in Forsyth Township. The charges include first-degree criminal sexual conduct, extortion, third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person 13 to 15 years old, and three counts of accosting a child for immoral purposes.

Police say the charges were authorized after several months of investigation. They say several witnesses and victims came forward with allegations against Waller.

The Luce County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the case.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
