Food drive in Delta County this weekend

ESCANABA, MI--   Candy canes will be traded for non-perishable food items in the Escanaba and Gladstone areas Sunday.

The annual food drive will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Taking part are firefighters, friends and family from Public Safety, the Gladstone Volunteer Fire Department, and the Escanaba Township Volunteer Fire Department.

They’ll walk and drive the area, handing out candy canes donated by Walmart and collecting non-perishables for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.

Those who wish to participate should leave their porch light on.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
