Flint mayor meets Senate majority leader, wants pipes fixed

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — The mayor of Flint has met with a key Senate leader to renew her call for quickly replacing the city's lead pipes and dispel "misconceptions" that she's planning to sue Michigan over contaminated water. Karen Weaver met with Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof on Wednesday.

Governor Rick Snyder spokesman Ari Adler says Flint has $2 million to replace lead lines at 500 homes. He says the city should urgently tap into that money and replace pipes.
This week marked the second anniversary of a disastrous switch to the Flint River. For 18 months, the river water wasn't treated for corrosion.
