Finlandia football player faces assault charge, five other students suspended

HANCOCK, MI--   Finlandia University has upheld the suspension of five students and another student faces charges, following an alleged assault at an off-campus party December 2.

The Daily Mining Gazette reports Tajuante Anderson, 20, of Milwaukee—a university football player—was arraigned last week on a misdemeanor charge of aggravated assault.  He’s accused of assaulting a university baseball player at the party.

The Finlandia University Conduct Board has affirmed the suspension of five student athletes connected to the incident.  An email sent out by officials stated the students had been part of “a quickly escalating hostile climate characterized by student-to-student threats, intimidation and retaliation.”

University officials have begun an internal investigation, which they expect to be complete by December 23.
