Fill the Boot for the MDA next week

MARQUETTE, MI--   Members of the Marquette Fire Department are taking their boots off to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Next week Local #643 is celebrating a 60-year partnership with the MDA by kicking off its annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign.  Several firefighters will stand at intersections in the city and collect cash from passing motorists.  All proceeds will be used to benefit children and adults affected by muscle diseases in the Marquette area.

On Friday, July 25 firefighters will be at the intersections of North McClellan Avenue and Cleveland Avenue and Third Street and West Hewitt Avenue.  On Saturday the 26th they’ll collect money at Washington and Front Streets, Third and West Hewitt, and Pine Street and Fair Avenue.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
