ESCANABA, MI-- The Delta County Sheriff’s Office says someone has been passing counterfeit money in Menominee and Delta counties.
The bills were discovered by clerks who said the money felt different from legitimate bills. Officials say mostly 20s and 50s have been passed, but 5s, 10s, and 100s have also been used. The bills have not passed the ink pen test and do not contain a security ribbon.
The Sheriff’s Office urges people in the region to inspect their money closely when conducting transactions. If anyone feels they’ve received counterfeit bills they should contact local law enforcement.
