Escanaba student threatens school shooting

ESCANABA, MI--   An Escanaba High School student was taken into custody Wednesday after they threatened to shoot up the school. 

Escanaba Public Safety officers responded to the building around 12:34 p.m. They investigated the complaint and found it to be credible. The student was removed and evaluated by a Pathways mental health professional, then lodged at the Bay Pines juvenile detention center.

Officers say the incident remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
