Escanaba man plays golf across the U.S.

ESCANABA, MI (AP)--   An Escanaba man has completed a goal of golfing in every state.

The Daily Press of Escanaba reports that by 2010 Dennis Grall had golfed at almost 250 courses in 34 states. The retired sports editor of the newspaper decided that 50 states was a good round number to hit.

Highlights along the way included rounds at 214 feet below sea level at Furnace Creek Golf Course in Death Valley, which is the lowest course in the world, and the 9,600 feet altitude of Breckenridge Golf Course in Colorado.  The last stop was on September 5 at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course on the Marine Corps Base in Hawaii.

The 68-year-old has now played at 265 different courses. He would like to reach 300.
