Escanaba home invasion suspect identified

ESCANABA, MI--   The name of an Escanaba man arrested for rifling through open vehicles and stealing property has been released. 

Escanaba Public Safety says officers responded to a report of a home invasion early Saturday morning on the 1400 block of North 20th Street.  They were also called to investigate the breaking-and-entering of a vehicle.  They ultimately arrested Harley Finnerty, 25. 

Finnerty is charged with second-degree home invasion, attempted second-degree home invasion, breaking and entering with damage to property, and two counts of stealing property less than $200. 

Finnerty remains lodged in the Delta County Jail on a $10,000 bond.  A probable cause hearing is set for June 23rd and a preliminary exam for June 30th.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
