Eat ice cream with officers in Iron River

IRON RIVER, MI--   Iron County residents can have a Cone with a Cop Thursday afternoon in Iron River. 

Officers with the Michigan State Police, the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Iron River Police Department, Caspian-Gaastra Police Department, and Crystal Falls Police Department will be at the Iron River McDonald’s from 1-3.  It’s a twist on Coffee with a Cop events held across the country. 

Officials hope residents will feel comfortable asking questions, expressing concerns, or simply getting to know the officers in a neutral space. 

The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving officer-citizen relationships one cup of coffee, or one ice cream cone, at a time. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
