Duke to pay $4 million for new hospital property

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette City Commission has approved the sale of 37 acres of land to Duke LifePoint Healthcare for its new hospital.

Duke will pay the city $4 million for the Roundhouse property and land where the Municipal Service Center currently stands.

Officials have secured Brownfield Economic Development money for the project, which includes demolishing the service center, building the new hospital, and constructing medical offices and a parking deck.

They say the plan will generate a minimum total capital investment of $170 million and create 150 new jobs.
