Driver runs red light, causes Marquette Township crash

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Marquette County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a two-vehicle crash in Marquette Township Thursday. 

The accident happened at the intersection of US-41 and Commerce Drive around 9:50 a.m.  Mary Wesler, 61, of Marquette was eastbound in a Chevy Cruz when she drove through a red light and hit a Buick LeSabre driven by Wendy Larson, 40, of Negaunee.

Wesler was taken to UP Health System Marquette for treatment on non-life-threatening injuries.  A juvenile passenger in Larson’s vehicle suffered minor injuries from a child restraint, but didn’t seek treatment.

Wesler was cited for disregarding a red light.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
