Downstate man arrested in Houghton County for selling drugs

HOUGHTON, MI--   A Grand Rapids man has been arrested for selling illegal drugs in Houghton County.

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team-West conducted a month-long investigation that led to the arrest of the 19-year-old Thursday. Detectives obtained information that the suspect was selling 

marijuana, acid, and prescription medication in Houghton County.

UPSET-West executed two search warrants in the City of Houghton and seized marijuana packaged for distribution and prescription medication suspected of being altered with acid.

The suspect remains lodged at the Houghton County Jail on various felony drug charges.

UPSET-West was assisted by officers from Michigan Technological University, Houghton City Police Department, Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, and Michigan State Police K-9 Unit.   

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
