Donckers to install solar panels

MARQUETTE, MI--   A downtown Marquette business is getting support from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Donckers Restaurant and Candy Store is getting an $11,364 grant to help install rooftop solar panels. The money comes through the Rural Energy for America Program, designed to help rural businesses develop renewable energy systems and create jobs.

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow says the grant will not only help Donckers be more energy efficient and support the clean energy economy; it will support the chocolatier as it continues to play a vital role in the community and tourism economy.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
