MARQUETTE, MI-- Part of a Chippewa County snowmobile trail is closed until further notice.
The Department of Natural Resources says the 2½-mile-long segment of Trail No. 8 in the northwestern portion of the county is unsafe for riders. Recent warm temperatures have melted ice and caused water to back up near the mouth of the Tahquamenon River. Water has pooled over part of the trail in a lowland area.
The closure is about 1.4 miles south of the village of Paradise and extends south to the Tahquamenon River.
Signs are posted notifying snowmobilers about the closure. Riders must find an alternate route to Paradise.
