Dianda wants to ban "Palcohol"

LANSING, MI--   State Representative Scott Dianda has introduced a bill to ban powdered alcohol in the state.

“Palcohol” comes in a packet which, when mixed with water, produces an alcoholic drink.  Dianda says someone could consume it without a bartender or server knowing; predators could slip Palcohol into someone’s drink; and it could increase the chances of accidental or intentional misuse by children and young people.

Dianda says Palcohol is marketed under names like “lemon drop” and “powderita” in a packet that looks much like Kool-Aid.  He says it’s a cynical attempt to target young people and downplay the seriousness of alcohol consumption.
