Dianda wants to amend gun law

LANSING, MI--   State Representative Scott Dianda has introduced legislation that would change Michigan’s weapons transport law.

Current law states gun owners must have their guns secured inside a case when they transport them in a car or carry them in the trunk.

Dianda says hunters frequently change locations during the day, and the case requirement puts an unnecessary burden on them.  His bill would repeal the rule.

Wisconsin enacted similar legislation in 2011. Dianda says since that time the state has not seen an increase in hunting incidents.
