Dettmering sentenced in hit man case

MARINETTE, WI--   A Crivitz, Wisconsin man charged with hiring a hit man to kill his son and daughter-in-law has been sentenced.

Robert Dettmering, 76, pleaded no contest in January to conspiracy to commit first-degree intentional homicide. Dettmering was allegedly upset that land he transferred to his son was sold.  A criminal complaint says he paid an undercover agent $1,000 as a down payment for the hits.

Dettmering was sentenced in Marinette County Circuit Cour Thursday to 20 years in prison with credit for 233 days already served and 10 years extended supervision.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
