Delacruz sentenced for Quinnesec fatality

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   A Norway man involved in a fatal motorcycle crash in Dickinson County June 3rd has been sentenced. 

Michael Delacruz, 39, was accused of failing to yield as he drove an SUV across US-141 on Breitung Cutoff Road in Quinnesec.  A motorcycle driven by William Doyle, 63, of Pembine, Wisconsin was unable to avoid rear-ending the SUV.  Doyle was killed in the crash.

Delacruz pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of moving violation causing death.  He was sentenced this week to 60 days in jail, 15 of which can be completed through 30 days of community service.  The rest will be suspended if Delacruz completes his probation successfully.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
